PLAN THE SYSTEM

Consider where music should be heard and whether each room needs separate control. The layout should reflect room shape and the places people usually listen.
In-ceiling placement can provide background music without using floor space. Speaker spacing, room dimensions and ceiling access help determine suitable positions.
Where one ceiling position is practical, a stereo-input speaker can play both left and right channels from one location. Equipment compatibility still needs to be checked.
Hallways and other narrow rooms may need more than one speaker location for balanced coverage. The best positions depend on the room and wiring access.
